València will host the international ISPIM Innovation Conference

  • The congress will be held at the Municipal Innovation Centre Las Naves from November 29th until December 1st 2021.
  • This event is an opportunity to show the talent and capabilities of València’s innovative ecosystem.
  • The goal of this congress is to connect innovation professionals to share perspectives on how to create successful new products, processes and services to foster economic growth and welfare.

After the last on-line editions after the COVID-19 outbreak, the ISPIM Innovation Conference, organised by The International Society for Professional Innovation Management Ltd., goes back to a face-to-face format and has chosen València as the venue for its next edition, thanks to the collaboration of the Innovation Service at the València City Council, Las Naves and Visit València. During this three-day congress, from November 29th until December 1st, innovation professional from the industry, consulting, research and public sectors will network face-to-face again at the ISPIM Connects València to rediscover the value of the community and collaboration in order to re-imagine new responses to new horizons.

ISPIM, create in Norway in 1983, is the oldest global active international innovation society in the world. Every year, it organises two congresses in a different city with a scientific, technological and entrepreneurial profile. In previous editions, cities like Toronto, Canada; Melbourne, Australia; Bangkok, Thailand; Boston, United States; Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia; or Stockholm, Sweden, were chosen; future editions are programmed in Osaka, Japan, and Copenhagen, Denmark.

València has been chosen as the first international innovation venue for the physical comeback

The ISPIM Connects València programme will include presentations, round tables, workshop, networking activities and exhibition areas for posters or prototypes. There will also be technical and cultural visits to get to know the city, as well as bilateral meetings and dinners for networking. Besides, the Visit València Foundation will provide a complementary programme with simultaneous leisure activities.

Carlos Galiana, Councilman for Innovation and Knowledge Management, stated that “this congress is a great opportunity to show the talent and hard work carried out in València in the field of innovation. The city of València is at the European forefront of missions-oriented innovation, as shown through the Missions València 2030 initiative. València has been acknowledged by the European Commission as one of the six most innovative cities in Europe in 2020 and was in the competition to become the European Capital of Innovation. We are also proud to be the first city to host the international ISPIM conference in the new normality”.

On his part, Emiliano García, Councilman for Tourism and Internationalization at the València City Council and president of Visit València, pointed out that “the fact that València was chosen as the first physical venue after the on-line editions in the context of the pandemic shows that our city has the capability to position itself as a safe, healthy and sustainable destination”. In this way, the event will allow us to expose the potential of the innovative ecosystem, of private-led and public-led projects, as well as the key role of the academia.”  On the other hand, García pointed out that “València is a pioneer in the implementation of innovation in different economic and social fields. One clear example is the use of design as a catalyst of innovation; as a result, València was chosen as World Design Capital for 2022.”

The deadline to submit presentations and proposals on innovation to show practical challenges or research in fields like Big Data, Artificial Intelligence, Design Thinking, Digital Transformation or urban labs is September 30th.

Las Naves and Visit València foster and facilitate the participation of the Valencian innovation ecosystem in the conference in order to complement international perspectives and to show its potential. Participation possibilities are diverse: product presentations, exhibition of prototypes and posters, talks, workshops, round tables or technical visits to companies and innovative actors. Besides, companies have the possibility to join the conference as sponsors or providers.

The event will gather 250 professionals from 25 different countries, will showcase over 100 innovative ideas from industry and research and will programme 10 field visits to València’s innovative ecosystem.
